Japan-EMNet Research Fellowship

Mission:

  • Build a bridge between Japan and the U.S. through training Japanese researchers

Goal:

Build the fundamentals and network to become researchers by using the curriculum, training experience, resource, and global network in the Hasegawa-lab and EMNet.


Curriculum:
Approximately 2-3 years of duration. The model curriculum is:
First year:
— Gain the fundamentals of epidemiology and biostatistics through didactics of the MS (Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Health Data Science) or MPH program at Harvard School of Public Health
— In parallel, analyze large databases at the EMNet (on-the-job training)
— Learn academic writing through publications and grant applications
— No clinical training

Second-third year(s): Develop and conduct own research projects (from the development of project, team, study protocol, IRB application, grant application, quality control, data cleaning, analysis, to publications) under direct mentoring.


Eligibility:

— MD, MD/PhD, or PhD
— No restrictions of specialty (not limited to emergency medicine)
— Candidates with external funding support (e.g., scholarship, grants) are highly considered and have a higher chance of acceptance
