Our mission is to translate large epidemiological, clinical, and omics data into new ways not only to understand the disease pathobiology but also to improve emergency care, in Japan, the U.S., and around the world.  We take the vision-driven approach — rather than technology- or needs-driven approaches — to make quantum leaps in science.

Our work applies novel multidisciplinary methods — an integration of traditional epidemiology, biostatistics, computational biology, and machine learning — to the complex interplay between host factors, environmental factors,  healthcare systems, and health outcomes.

The Hasegawa Lab is the “data science” division of the Emergency Medicine Network (EMNet) — a research collaboration of 235 medical centers around the world — at the Department of Emergency Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital.
