Despite its ubiquitous presence in contemporary emergency medicine practice, many vital questions about emergency department (ED) airway management remain unanswered.

The emergency medicine investigators in Japan and we have founded the Japanese Emergency Medicine Network (JEMNet), and founded multi-center prospective registries of ED airway management in the EDs across Japan (the JEAN studies).  To date, we have collected the data of approximately 10,000 ED intubations and provided novel findings to the literature.
